U.S. Raises Reward and Sanctions Venezuelan DJ for Links to Tren de Aragua

Washington Aims to Dismantle the TdA Network

The U.S. government increased the reward to $5 million for information leading to the capture of Giovanni Vicente Mosquera Serrano, considered one of the main leaders of the Tren de Aragua (TdA), a Venezuelan criminal organization that the White House has classified as a foreign terrorist organization. (eltiempo.com)

Simultaneously, the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Treasury Department sanctioned Venezuelan actress and DJ Jimena Araya —artistically known as “Rosita”— for her alleged links to the network: according to Washington, Araya provided logistical and financial support to the criminal group, facilitating the leader’s escape and assisting in money laundering through her tours and businesses connected to the organization. (home.treasury.gov)

The sanctions — explained by the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury — aim to strangle the financial structure of the TdA and restrict its operational capacity internationally. The statement notes that the gang is involved not only in drug trafficking but also in human smuggling, extortion, sexual exploitation, money laundering, and widespread violence. (home.treasury.gov)

Mosquera Serrano had already been sanctioned by OFAC in June 2025 and was on the FBI’s most-wanted list; the new reward marks an escalation in the U.S. offensive against the organization. (europapress.es)

According to charges filed in U.S. courts, Mosquera is accused of conspiracy to traffic cocaine internationally and providing material support to a terrorist organization. Authorities state that from prison in Venezuela he has led violent transnational operations and a complex money laundering network. (cbsnews.com)

The recent sanctions are not limited to individuals: they also target businesses, bars, clubs, and logistical structures linked to the TdA in several Latin American countries. Among those sanctioned are entertainment and import businesses, showing the transnational reach of the criminal organization. (confirmado.com.ve)

The international offensive against the Tren de Aragua is part of a broader U.S. strategy to weaken transnational criminal and terrorist organizations, cut their financial routes, and prevent their expansion to North America and other countries. (apnews.com)
