Mesmo nadadores experientes são vulneráveis. Água fria, fadiga, ondas e correntes podem rapidamente superar a capacidade física. Em condições de pouca luz, a visibilidade cai drasticamente, dificultando os esforços de resgate e reduzindo significativamente as janelas de sobrevivência.

Este caso também evidencia um problema mais amplo: a cultura de segurança na navegação recreativa.
